Overnight Sessions
  • What's included in tuition?
From delicious and nutritious food that is prepared free of most common food allergens, to every single activity we offer at camp, what you see is what you get when it comes to attending Borealis Adventure Camp. Camp families are responsible for providing personal items to get each camper through their stay, such as: clothing, towels, activity shoes, backpack, reusable water bottle, a sleeping bag and pillow.
  • How many weeks should we enroll for?
All of our sessions are focused on campers heading home with amazing stories and friendships that will last a lifetime, so you can be sure whichever option you choose, it'll be the right one! Our one week session durations are perfect for kids (and parents) who may have some hesitancy about being at camp, who have other activities they take part in during the summer, or who simply can't fit two weeks of camp into the budget. Campers who choose to enroll for multiple sessions will have the opportunity to further perfect a skill, complete a more intensive arts project they've started, and make more amazing friends. We provide a 20% discount for multi-session enrollments. Each overnight session offers a single night canoe and camping out-trip, which campers are welcome to take part in during each session that they are at camp. The longer the stay, the more camp becomes a home away from home.
  • Do you offer shorter session lengths?
We understand that some families may be challenged by scheduling in the summer, so we are happy to arrange for alternate arrival and departure times. Simply click the button below to send your schedule adjustment request to our Camp Director.
  • I don't see a session that fits my campers age?
We welcome campers from ages 8-17 for our Overnight programs, and 6-16 for our Day programs. We do consider exceptions to these age groupings if families have a younger sibling that wants to attend at the same time as their older sibling, or if a camper of age to attend camp has a friend they'd like to share camp with who is not yet of age. Get in touch with us if you'd like to inquire further.
  • Can we send our camper for multiple sessions?
You can combine back to back sessions, or pick the first and last of the summer, whatever best suits your budget, schedule and campers desires. We offer a multi-session discount of 20% for campers attending more than one session. Discounts will be applied following enrollment.
  • Do you offer transportation to and from camp?
We've found that a lot of parents really want to drop their kids off at camp, that's why we created the Travelers Outpost, where parents and campers can manage arrival and departure in their own unique ways. That said, we do offer transportation options for an additional fee above that of general enrollment, so reach out to us about your specific needs.
  • Do you have a referral program?
Yes, we love when families with campers attending our sessions, and even those without, help us spread the word about Borealis Adventure Camp. We respect and value your time, and because we're asking you to help us share camp with others, we've made the reward for doing so $50 for Day Camp or $100 for Overnight Camp off of your campers tuition, or in your pocket if you don't have a camper attending. This applies to any additional campers from your household, beyond the first camper enrolled for a season, plus extended family and friends.
  • Are there any extra costs?
None whatsoever. We strive to keep our camp fees inclusive of all activities so that camp families don't have to pay extra for their campers to have the best experience possible doing the activities they really want to do.
  • Do you offer a sibling discount?
Yes, we offer this in the form of our $50 Day Camp and $100 Overnight Camp referral bonus, which applies to any additional campers from your household, beyond the first camper enrolled for a season, plus extended family and friends.
  • Do you offer financial aid/scholarships to help with fees?
Yes we do. We evaluate Financial Aid requests on a case by case basis for families under financial strain who still wish to give their kids an amazing summer experience. In addition to meeting as many families where they're at on tuition, each year we work with community partners to identify underprivileged kids who exemplify the core values we covet at Borealis Adventure Camp. From this group we select a limited number of applicants to receive multi-year scholarships. If you'd like to connect with the Camp Director about our Financial Aid or Scholarship programs click the button below. All financial aid and scholarship requests are confidential.
  • What are your billing and cancellation terms?
Billing Terms & Conditions - A deposit of $250 is due upon enrollment for each session. Camper fees can be paid in full upon enrollment. Those choosing to pay in installments will be charged/billed the first of each month, starting on the first day of the month that immediately follows the date of payment of the deposit(s), with the outstanding balance dispersed equally over those months up to and including the final payment date of June 1 of the calendar year in which the session(s) are to take place. Any payments that are unable to be processed due to insufficient funds, may be subject to a $50 fee. Any camper enrollment that takes place after June 1 of the calendar year in which the session(s) are to take place are required to pay all deposits and balances in full upon enrollment. We are unable to offer pro-rated session fees based on late arrival or early departure needs. Accepted payment methods include credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express & Discover), and e-transfer. Please contact our office to arrange e-transfer payments. Cancellation/Refund Policy - Cancellation of camper enrollment prior to January 15 of the calendar year in which the session(s) are to take place will result in any deposits, installments or full balance payments made, minus a $100 + HST administrative fee, being completely refunded upon written (electronic or paper) request. Deposits are non-refundable if paid after January 15 of the calendar year in which the session(s) are to take place. Any installment or full balance payment(s) made between January 15 and May 1 of the calendar year in which the session(s) are to take place will be fully refunded upon written (electronic or paper) request. All installment and full balance payments are non-refundable after May 1 of the calendar year in which the session(s) are to take place, except for at the sole discretion of the Camp Director who may issue refunds or credits should extenuating circumstances, presented in writing (electronic or paper), warrant such in their view. Health reasons, when accompanied by a Doctor's Note, will receive a full refund before May 1 of the calendar year in which the session(s) are to take place, minus a $100 + HST administrative fee. If presented after May 1 of the calendar year in which the session(s) are to take place and before the campers session(s) are set to begin, a 50% refund will be issued. If a camper leaves their camp session early due to health reasons or is dismissed due to disciplinary action, no refund can be issued. If the camp session your camper is signed up for does not operate for any reason, you will receive a full refund of all camp fees paid. All refunds will be issued via the payment method the funds were originally paid by.
  • Is laundry done at camp?
We ask that families send their campers with enough clean clothing to support a complete change of clothes daily for the duration of their stay, up to one week. Campers attending Day Camp or a single week session of Overnight Camp do not receive laundry service. Campers attending multiple sessions back to back receive laundry service once for every consecutive session they stay. Dirty items are stored neatly in a camp provided laundry bag with your campers name on it. Laundry service is available, at the discretion of camp, during each session in order to respond to special circumstances, but is not something that can be purchased.
  • What do campers eat?
We source as many of our menu items as locally as possible, from producers focused on responsible practices. This way, we support our local community and we eat healthier than most camps too! Our menu has so much variety that it will satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. We take food allergies seriously too, preparing most of our menu items absent of common food allergens, and offering a variety of choices sure to please even the pickiest eaters. Parents of campers with special diets are asked to inform us of their child’s nutritional needs. Not to worry ... any dietary information is requested on our mandatory parent forms so we don’t miss it! Even our Camp Director is gluten and dairy intolerant, so we’re no stranger to special diets. Menu's for each session will be sent at least seven days in advance of arrival day. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask. We are happy to do everything we can to ensure your camper’s health and safety.
  • Where do campers sleep?
We've designed the area where our campers sleep as a cluster of 'cabins' amongst the wilderness. Each cluster features platform raised canvas wall tents, with male, female and all-gender 'cabins', purposefully placed on carefully curated sites. Each is outfitted with multiple wooden bunk spaces, which include a storage space to keep camper belongings at their fingertips, and a camping mattress fit for royalty. Each community is supervised by camp staff, who sleep in their own designated spaces within each cluster, to ensure campers are safe and have support if needed at any time. Each community also has access to its own upscale outhouse and wash station in close proximity so trips to the washroom at any time of the day are easy to navigate.
  • What are the washrooms like?
We have purposefully created upscale outhouses that provide campers with the comfort and security of their own individual space. Given that we're in the wilderness, these facilities are constructed with the respect and preservation of nature in mind, while at the same time offering the comforts of home with indoor lighting, mirrors and wash stations.
  • Will I be able to connect with my camper?
We have two main ways for campers and parents/guardians to stay connected while away from each other. Postal Service - One of our personal favorites, because it's so unique in today's world to receive something hand-written and sent via the mail. We encourage this method because it's uniquely camp, and we know from experience that receiving a hand written letter is incredibly personal and impactful, both in the moment you first open it, and again when you stumble upon it 12 years later. We supply envelopes and stamps for outgoing camper mail, making it easy for our campers to send mail out every day if they want to. Parents/guardians are encouraged to leave hand-written notes behind for their camper during arrival so that those can be delivered strategically throughout their time at camp. Phone Booth - Another throwback style of getting in touch, because camp, only this booth goes just one way, allowing campers to record and have a voice message sent home. As with all activities at camp, campers get to choose if they want to use this tech or not, which is available to them each day. Safe to say, if you don't hear from your camper via this method of communication, that means there's absolutely nothing to worry about and they're simply busy having a great time with friends! Video Call - In the rare case that missing home doesn't seem to be easing for a camper, we will facilitate a video call with parents/guardians in efforts to help the camper find additional comfort and direction.
  • Can parents/guardians visit camp?
Borealis Adventure Camp was created for kids to feel as though this is their special place. By allowing campers to experience that solely with the people they share in the experience of camp with on a daily basis, we empower them to grow into more self-sufficient, resilient and community conscious humans. Parents/Guardians are able to see their campers off at our Traveler's Outpost here at camp on both Arrival & Departure days. On Departure days, we plan something special for our campers to share in the magic of their time at camp with their parents/guardians if they wish to do so.
  • What do we need to pack?
Campers are allowed one bag (not including their sleeping bag and pillow, which can be in a separate soft bag for ease of transport and storage once at camp) General Packing - Clothing for both warm and cool conditions to ensure your camper is comfortable at all times. - Comfortable footwear suitable for hiking and biking - Swimsuit(s) - Towel (at minimum one is required) - Water Shoes (suggested but not required) - Sun protection - Hat & Sunscreen - Bug Spray - Sleeping bag and pillow - Headlamp or Flashlight - Favourite books - Favourite musical instrument(s) - Costume pieces for themed meals, skits and Creative Arts (suggested but not required) Personal Hygiene - toothbrush & toothpaste - hair brush (if necessary) - clean underwear for each day they're at camp - biodegradable shower products (soap/body wash, shampoo, conditioner) - part of camps mission is to limit our impact on the environment through thoughtful curation of the products we use and that takes an effort from everyone to achieve, so your participation in this is appreciated. DO NOT SEND - food or snacks (this is to ensure the safety of all campers and staff from allergic reactions and incidents with wild animals) - electronic devices
  • How are camper medications handled?
All medications (prescription, over the counter or homeopathic) brought to camp must be in original containers and will be kept in the Health Centre (with the exception of inhalers, EpiPens and prescription dermatological creams). Neither campers nor staff are allowed to keep any medication on their person or in their sleeping quarters, including vitamins and over-the-counter medicine. All medication MUST be documented with the specified dosage on the Camper Health Form. You will be asked to input this information during enrollment, and our Medical Director will confirm any dosage or prescription changes/additions upon arrival at camp. Any dosage changes for prescription medications must match the listed prescription dosages noted on the bottle or package provided by the pharmacist. Should a camper choose not to take their prescribed medication(s), parents will be called and directed to pick the camper up immediately.
  • How close are emergency services?
With an on-site Medical Director, and Medical Centre, we are able to handle the regular scenarios that occur at camp. In the rare case that a camper or staff member does need emergency care, camp is centrally located to all three core emergency services, ensuring that emergency response is quick for a wilderness camp setting. Emergency medical services, including ambulance and a 24/7 hospital emergency department are just 15 minutes away. A fire station is located within 15 minutes of camp. Ontario Provincial Police services are located just 15 minutes from camp.
  • Is camp gender inclusive?
Yes, we're guided in this by our desire to facilitate a space that is welcoming to all campers, regardless of gender. To that end we've created three accommodation types at camp, male, female and all-gender, and have single-occupancy washrooms and showers, thus ensuring the three legally recognized genders in our province of operation (Ontario) have equality in the personal spaces that exist for them at camp.
